Heros
As part of the 2008 Freeway and Tollway Operations Conference today we heard from General Barry McCaffrey. He gave a very solid presentation. The best part was about motivation, which he only touched on briefly. He asked what makes American soliders tick; especially in light of the fact that we’ve had over 640,000 armed service personell killed in action in the last 75 years. He quickly nullified the thought that it’s negative consequences, as we’ve only had one solider executed for desertion since the Civil War (certainly a sad story).
The above definitely meets the “show don’t tell” qualifier.
It’s humbling to think about the sacrifices made by all of our armed services. The hero paintings project has always caught my attention as a great way to honor the fallen.
